Vicky Donor is a well paced cool movie. The story idea is very unique and unique content always makes any creative piece clutter breaking to make you take notice of the same.
The whole idea of a sperm donor and story in the backdrop of this is interesting, unqiue and original. The production house has been very prudent in keeping the production budgets tight ensuring that the movie will definitely make money. Its not a great movie but definitely a very interesting short story which you would love to watch once and spread a positive word of mouth.
The positives of the film are its cast starting with 'Ayushman' who has been quite confident, effortless in the movie although the script doesn't test his histrionic skills much so it will be difficult to tell whether with this movie he has arrived as an actor but yes his confidence shown in the movie will definitely land him more roles....Apart from 'Ayushman' the people who really lift the movie and have been a delight to watch are 'Dolly Ahluwalia' (playing vicky's mother), the lady playing 'Vicky's' grandmom and 'Annu Kapoor' playing the infertility doctor....These three have been the real highlight in the movie and some moments are really funny....Specially the 'grandmom' whose one liners are mindblowing....Apart from the sperm donor angle the 'Bengali-Punjabi' cultural clash is equally interesting and best kept secret in the movie...........Yami Gautam is extremely beautiful and the romance between the two leads looks quite realistic making it good to watch.
To shoojit's credit he has kept the cast very realistic and so the setting of Delhi refugee colony and kept the pace of the movie quite tight and his climax ensures that the movie ends with an emotionally touching moment...
On the improvement side the movie could have been more powerful if the lead actress could have acted better...The whole sequence in the story dealing with revelation of the fact that 'Vicky' is a sperm donor and how it makes his wife react to it could have been portrayed better as some outbursts by 'Yami' were not very convincing but still considering that its her first movie she did quite OK specially if we compare her with 'Nargis Fakhri' or even 'Katrina Kaif' in most of her initial movies...
Overall kudos to Shoojit for directing well, John & Ram for producing good content and Juhi Chaturvedi having written an interesting short story.
GO ENJOY VICKY DONOR AND HIS FAMILY...........
Review of 'Icche' (bengali movie)
Icche is possibly one of the most wonderful movies i have ever seen till date...More so for the wonderful wonderful performance by 'Sohini Sengupta'... The whole story revolves around the mother 'Mamta' and son 'Soumik' played by 'Sohini Sengputa' & 'Samadarshi Dutta'. The mother is a typical bengali mother who is over possessive and protectionist about her son and wants to fullfill all her dreams thru her son....She wants to fullfill all her dreams thru her son and in the process forgets that her son has a life and identity of his own...'Soumik' starts realising this uncomfortable reality when he falls in love witha Girl in Class XIIth and her mother comes to know of it.... The story on hand is simple but on the other hand it deals with various shades of character of 'Mamta' who loves her son like anything, sometimes she is her best buddy, sometimes she is biggest opponent and sometimes she is manipulating... The story ...
