Review of Marathi Movie 'Deool'

Its really wonderful to see how beautifully the makers of 'Deool' has captured the commercialisation of 'God' in the film without calling for any controversy... Directed by 'Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni' and acted by some wonderful actors like Nana Patekar, Girish Kulkarni & Sonali Kulkarni the movie deals with the story of a village which has been leading the same life for decades but how an interesting news about existence of 'Dutta' ( a maharashtrian god) sparks interest in various people and how they go about commercialising the idea is the movie all about. The actors have been fabulous in 'potraying' the behavior of rural people and cinematographer has done a fab job of bringing the maharashtra's rural setting into reality.....Nana Patekar has been outstanding in the role of a local politicians who wants development in his village but at the same is corrupt and bound by political compulsions and his attraction & possesiveness for his wife 'Sonali Kulkarni' is quite amusing to watch. Girish Kulkarni as a village lad who is confused by the way his belief on god is being commercialised by his peers in village has been equally outstanding. All other characters in the movie have been 'just right'....The editing is tight ensuring that time is not being lost in forcefitting anything.... The beauty of the writer director has been the way they have handled a subject which otherwise could have been very sensitive and kept the mood of the movie very light hence even a layman can relate to it. A must watch by people who like to see not only entertaining executions but also entertaining movies with experimental subjects....
