Agneepath - Wast Of Time, Money & Energy

Movie remakes are a fresh take and as long as they are treated really well comparisons don't matter....'Don' was a perfect example where 'Farhan' did a fabulous job with the movie so much so that he has been able to convert it into a property and pretty successfully so...I dnt think we really can compare 'new Don' with 'old Don' at all.... The problem starts when the fresh take doesn't turn out so well and therefore as a reflex you start comparing it with its original.... Karan Johar said in recent interviews that he made it because his father was sad that the movie did not do that well on the box office....I do not know whether he actually meant that or it was just another publicity stunt to gain sympathy towards the new release and therefore creating a reason to watch the movie...Whatever it may be i feel at least Yash Johar managed to make a movie which although may not have been a Box Office success but the movie has managed to establish itself as one of the best movies of Amitabh and it has only grown in popularity in years that passed by...Unfortunately for Karan Johar whatever may have been the reason for making the movie, it will not be remembered beyond this weekend (unlike the original) and am sure that neither he nor Hritik would like to look back at this one as one of the movies to remember from their credentials... The problems with the movie are plenty but in a nutshell its a result of trying to make a very intense story commercial by infusing 'Karan Johar Trademarks' of background scrore, heightened drama and music which has no place in the flow of the story....The whole movie you wonder where is the story going, you wait to see some intense drama from Hritik & Sanjay Dutt and you start to believe that the story is getting build but the result is the movie is wasted in trying to accentuate drama / intensity thru background score rather than acting, too many unnecessary elements distract the story and therefore by the time the story is ready to build up its the climax and therefore the director is left with time only for a typical 70's style (unbelievable) action sequence between Hritik & Sanjay Dutt.... While Sanjay Dutt has managed to get a good look he has failed to create the villainous intensity and therefore surprise us...Hritik on the other hand has been wasted..... Its very difficult to understand why in an intense movie the actor had such less dialogues to deliver...Why the whole attention went to background score, music, costumes, looks, locales etc...rather than pure acting.... My only conclusion is Its a ghost directed movie from Karan Johar, poor direction from Karan Malhotra (who as asst director have done some good movies...so is it peters principle working dnt know) and therefore the whole screenplay, script and the movie per say have gone wrong big time and its not even a shade of the Original.... On the positive side the look and feel of the movie is very good and the team has smartly releases it on 26th Jan and in maximum number of shows which means by the time people realise how is the movie they would have seen it and therefore it will get a good opening at the box office but will drop very sharply and fast... The point to note is such is the aura of the original and possibly expectations from a good actor like Hritik that the shows are going houseful on 26th and may be on 27th as well...But a complete wastage of all expectations.... POOR IS MY RATING...NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET....
