Gully Boy - Truly Amazing....

After a long time went to watch a movie on friday night...primarily because right from the word go Gully Boy intrigued me, moved me with its trailer, its music, its vibe.....and Boy it did not disappoint me at all....

What i loved about the film is its orginality, the fact that it pushed the envelope in Hindi commercial in more than one way and it definitely had some possessed actors and a great great director who keeps pushing the envelope of storytelling.

The film has pushed the envelope on breaking stereotypical storytelling, this is possibly the first Hindi film which is based on musical culture grown in the slums of India, the camera movements, capturing of expressions, the overall atmosphere are so real and natural that it immediately transports you to that world.....

I feel its a movie with very International style yet extremely Indian in its heart....It can compete with some of the Hollywood greats made on the life of Musicians like 'Walk The Line' or 'Ray'....

But what keeps us engaged to Gully are three possessed actors.....With every movie Ranveer seems to be establishing that his ability to get into the skin and soul of a role is extraordinary possibly even better than Ranbeer whom i consider the best actor in today's times.......One cannot but relate to his character the way he has showcased the characters Arc....Its nervousness yet resolute self.....Its frustrations......But its not just Ranveer, Alia too showcased that she is the possibly the most natural and talented actresses of today's times....The love between them makes you feel it.....It almost feels like they have some natural connection........Along with Ranveer & Alia ...Sidhanta Chaturvedi also leaves his mark in the film.....Along with these three tremendous actors what elevates the film are extremely talented supporting cast be it Vijay Raaj, Amruta Shubash or Sheeba Chaddha......It actually takes a few minutes to recognise Sheeba Chaddha in the film....
Apart from these great performers the film also gets elevated because of its amazing camera work, some very good work with the look of Ranveer that compliments the characters journey really really well, extremely powerful musical track and above all great editing......Gully Boy is truly an amazing team work By Zoya Akhtar who is truly a powerful and versatile storyteller....

Its also a movie that leaves you with a lot of positive Vibe.....Your do relate to 'Apna Time Aayega'.....

So, without any further ado.....Aapka Time Aa Gaya Hai Ki Aap Gully Boy ke saath rap karein....

Icche is possibly one of the most wonderful movies i have ever seen till date...More so for the wonderful wonderful performance by 'Sohini Sengupta'... Some serious questions on the movie business???

Given the fact that all movies are now on TV within few weeks of release gives us a sense that producers are looking for multiple revenue streams big time...(in fact i have heard some of them plays a role in releasing the pirated CD's as well..when they know it will not do well....)....Looking at the quality of movies being made now a days , big time fall in footfalls in Multiplexes due to much faster spread of 'Word of mouth'unlike a couple of years back (thanks to social networking)...it gives me an indication that somewhere the business model of 'Movies' are not working smoothly, which is forcing producers to release it on TV much sooner than required so that they can at least cash in on the idiot box which at least gives them greater assurance of 'Eyeballs' (as typically people do give all those movie a watch which they haven't seen in theatre's...bcoz for them its free of cost..)...While its good for the producers that they have TV to save them ...

Sardar Udham - Amazon Prime

 I was awaiting Sardar Udham with a lot of eagerness because of two reasons. # 1 - It was Shoojit's latest creation and we all know how good a film maker he is. # 2 - It had Vicky Kaushal who is one of the best actors in Bollywood today. The 2hr 42 min film was made with great intent to dive deep into the mind and motives of Sardar Udham Singh that led to the killing of Michael O' Dwyer 20 years after he had given the orders for Jaliwalan Bagh Executions. The highest point of the film was the last 40 minutes which showcases the Jaliwalan Bagh killings and the diplomatic defense of the incident by the army and bureaucrats of the British. It does shake you, emotionally stirs you and does make you feel angry that till date there is no official apology of the same by the United Kingdom. The film depicts some interesting characterization of Bhagat Singh and his philosophy.
