Queen Review
Queen is a refreshing take on a girls journey from innocence to confidence, from dependence to self discovery......From the word go Vikas Behl has managed not only a refreshing mood in the film but also managed to strike a good balalnce between commercial and offbeat treatment....
In Queen not just protagonist self discovers herself but the actress playing the protagonist 'Kangana Ranawat' has discovered that she has enormous talent which can carry a movie on her own....
Though she has demonstrated that in glimpses in the past be it her first movie gangster or her movie with 'Madhavan', but in queen she breaks the stereotype of 'mentally confused girl' (she was being typecasted in too many movies in such characters) into a mainstream actress who can carry any role with ease and effortlessness...
In Queen Kanagana leaves a lasting impact on our minds as she gets into the skin of the role and you cannot differentiate between the character and the heroine....thats makes the protagonists so real and relatable....
The story is simple but emotions at every stage of the characters journey has been aptly played, unlike english winglish there is no overboard of emotions its played exactly the way you would do it in real life....specially the scene where 'Kangana hugs her japanese friend with whom she was sharing the room in Amsterdam is so real that before she hugs you actually feel yourself in your heart that this guy needs a hug.....there are many such moments in the movie......some of the moments are seriosly hilarious and brings out genuine laughter from the heart which is so difficult to find in todays bollywood movies......specially the moments when she goes to sex shop and doesn't realise that its a sex shop or the moment when kangana's brother and father find more interest in communicating with her hot friend 'Vijayalakshmi' played by Lisa Hayden than Kangana was hilarious.....
All the sarrounding characters around 'Queen' have also played their roled very well and thats what lifts the films overall performance as each of the supporting roles strengthens each scene....
If you have neglected 'Queen' in favour of stereotype films like 'Gulaab Gang' then dnt miss it this weekend.....Go watch a refreshingly new Kangana in Queen and come out thinking about the character....:)
