Review Ek Thi Daayan
Ek Thi Daayan has been yet another underpromoted but widely expected flick from the house of ALT ENTERTAINMENT which is slowly but surely making its name for its Edgy Content....
This movie was even more expected because its co-producers are Vishal Bhardwaj & Rekha Bhardwaj and had some tremendous set of actors in its cast in Konkona/Emraan/Kalki & Huma....The movie was expected to be edgy/tight and full of suspense going by its name....
The movie started as expected as Emraan starts narrating his story of childhood which had some interesting events which is haunting him even today.....The first half kept its promise as Director Kannan Iyer quite successfully keeps the audience on its edge and builds the character of 'Daayan' played by Konkona.....But by the time it reaches Interval and post that in the 2nd half he fails to keep the suspense and horror intact which was expected from the quality house of ALT and Bhardwaj's....
The movie ends up being too predictable and loses its horror element completely by the climax and becomes too Bollywoodish....So in a nutshell its started off well with a promise of differently made Horror Movie but ends up being too common and predictable....
The audience comes out not impressed and not getting its bang for the buck specially when ALT has in its kitty horror flicks like 'Ragini MMS'....
It could have been much better if the script could have written better with more suspense and horror filled in....At the end while the direction, camera work, narration and editing went well the film failed bcoz of poor scripting....
Though you could still expect a sequel of the movie and hopefully that will be dealt with more depth in scripting as it ends with a promise that 'Daayan' will return....
While all actors did their job decently but 'Konkona' clearly stood out and managed to have her moments of horrifying the audience....
Overall a good attempt which failed at the end...
However do look forward to BALAJI's LOOTERA .....The PROMOS Looked Fabulous.....
