Barfi Review

The crowds were full on the night show of 'Barfi' on friday. It shows that like me many more were waiting to watch 'Barfi' because of various reasons . The movie generated enough interest specially people were curious to watch their favorite actor 'Ranbir' & 'Priyanka' how they play out the role of deaf and dumb.

And one must say that when you come out of the screens you cannot forget how much both these actors have satisfied you with their superb performance in the movie. Ranbir in his role of of a deaf and dumb but yet a guy full of energy who never gives up in life and Priyanka who is also dumb and more complicated than Ranbir. Barfi truly belongs to both these actors who have demonstrated their histrionic skills are par excellence. For Ranbir this is the 2nd time possibly after 'Rocket Sing The Salesman' where he played the role of a common man and completely got into the character where you couldn't differentiate between ranbir and the character. The scene where 'Ranbir' is heart broken because his girlfriend chooses someone else over him and 'Priyanka' feeling inferior to 'Ranbir's old flame where just beautiful and definitely touches your heart....

However while the actors have excelled i do not feel the movie leaves you with a lingering effect which these kind of 'storylines' specially a movie which hardly have any dialogues completely depend on 'background score', 'story' and 'performances' must ensure.....Globally and regionally in India many such movies have been made and some of the best ones 'The Artist' (Oscar Winner) & 'Chaplin' (Bangla) not only dazzled you with good acting but touched your heart made you laugh, made you cry throughout the story to the extent you forget that you are watching a dialogue less movie....

These kind of executions are tough and so was 'Barfi' but somewhere 'Barfi' fails to touch the heart, really engage the audience to the effect that it will linger in your mind and create enormous word of mouth....The movie could have been therefore much better scripted/directed and composed.....According to me 'Barfi' was a movie well acted but averagely made hence the total product was nice but could have been much better.

Commercially it will definitely gather good box office opening observing the crowd it is pulling but whether it will bring the followers(those who follow the initial trialists based on reviews and word of mouth) into the movieplexes is to be seen....

finally not to forget to mention about the other lead cast 'Illina D'Cruz'...She too played her role to perfection and her bengali looks fitted 'perfectly' to the script.....
The photography was awesome after a long time a movie was shot so much in Darjeeling which brought freshness into the look and feel....Backgorund Score and Music was definitely above average but not outstanding.....

Overall nice movie could have been much better...

Go Watch 'Barfi' is the verdict to see a good experiment, some wonderful acting, good music and beautiful camera work and overall a good entertaining story...

Don't be sad , Be 'Barfi'
