'Bhooter Bhobishyot' is a bengali satirical movie based on how today's new age development is putting some of the best known pasts into the oblivion and making it difficult for the past to exist anymore....The director 'Anik Dutta' has tried to tell this message thru a very unique story of a group of ghosts living in a old antique North Kolkata house which is now under sale and how the ghosts who are already under stress in the age of consumerism due to destruction of old properties (where they used to live) plots to save this single property ...The movie starts with a movie being shot in this old bunglow and the heroine faints seeing a 'Ghost' while shooting her scenes, now this becomes a huge news item, leading to reduction of shoots in the bungalow and during these times another director 'Ayan' acted by 'parambrata' (Kahaani Fame) pays a visit to the bungalow to shoot an ad film and then what happens is the movie all about.....I think this is an interesting enough plot for one to be intrigued to watch the movie.... Now wearing the hat of a critique i feel that the movie 'idea' as described above is extremely interesting and unique....But execution somewhere has been weak....Specially the entire screenplay.....While it starts interestingly but from the moment the story take a break and cuts into the ghosts story it somewhere becomes a bit boring and monotonous...The director has attempted lot of stuff like unique treatment, different lighting but still somewhere the it fails to ignite the interest as u go thru the story....Possibly a sattire and ghost without any suspense or thrill just does not gel well....If it had a little mixture of 'horror or suspense' in it guess the movie would have been far more interesting.... Overall full marks for a unique concept and not so bad execution, could have been better with better script and screenplay....Most actors have done their job quite well and few scenes with some quirky dialogues really make you laugh your heart out but that comes a bit late in the movie....I guess among all the characters that stand out are 'Sabyasachi' and the little role played by 'Shaswata Chatterjee' as kartick...he showed his versatility as an actor with his comic timing being just mind blowing specially when u compare with his role in 'Kahaani'.... Overall a good watch for its unique and interesting concept and some really funny moments that will tickle your stomach muscles for sure....Its kind of short story that u wld like to watch while on a long drive and looking for some good 'time pass'....
