'Kahaani' - A Breezy Affair

This morning you have woken up and thinking which movie to put your money on then don't think as 'Kahaani' is here to entertain you. 'Breezy' is the word that comes to my mind when trying to explain the experience i had while watching this movie. Yes 'Kahaani' is a breezy little story that makes you sit on your toes and just live the moment with the story. You ignore some of the 'flaws' or 'creative liberties' that the director or writer have taken because at the end of the day you say what a good tight suspense thriller. The movie while many might say and rightfully so belongs to the acting powerhouse 'Vidya (or should i call Bidya) Balan but it also belongs equally if not less for the writer / director of 'Kahaani' 'Sujoy Ghosh & Adwait' who have done a marvellous job of writing a very original and interesting story. I have not seen a better suspense movie in many years in Bollywood than 'Kahaani' and if there is one movie that you should repent if you miss is this one... Being a suspense thriller it will be real spoil sport to reveal anything about the story. So without revealing much let me give a you a glimpse of 'Kahaani'. First of all you will see for the first time a story that will make you think 'Arrey Indian Intelligence Bhi Itna Intelligent Hai' because this is something we always associate with CIA or Russian intelligence (courtesy Hollywood)....The story very well depicts the intricacies of Indian Intelligence.... Other than Vidya Balan and one or two actors the cast is fully Bengali is another highlight of the movie as it showcases some of the brilliant actors from bengal take you through the journey with their effortless performances...Possibly that makes the movie so watchable because unlike the typical 'Style/Nakhra/Accent/(whatever we call it)' and makes it seem so real...and of course 'Vidya Balan' with her effortless portrayal of a pregnant woman in search of her husband who doesn't seem to exist has just lifted the overall movie to a different level. Being shot in Kolkata the movie is extremely good looking with shots having a lot of depth in it which has been captured beautifully by renowned cameraman 'Setu'. There are times in the movie you start predicting a little bit here and there but the number of disjointed events distracts you everytime you start concluding anything.....So the story doesn't give you time enough to think while its on.... Although not a relatable comparison but its very much like a 'Mission Impossible' where you enjoy the suspense, thriller for 1.5hrs although later on you might analyse the flaws in the story... With 'Kahaani' while Vidya has strengthened her claim to be the most effortless actress in the country 'Sujoy Ghosh' has really arrived with this one...... Very Honestly its quite a surpise package expected from someone who has also given us movies like 'Alaadin' but kudos to Sujoy for having written, produced and directing such a original movie in Bollywood.... Must see great piece of work.....
