No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ)

While the trailors never intrigued me or impressed me but still i had hopes from NOKJ as it was made by a good director....But unfortunately my hopes came crashing down when i saw the movie....won't say it was a very very badly made movie but i guess i found the movie to be bland....while all Indians know the story of Jessica Lal and share the same feelings related to the tragedy...But as an audience i would like to see that event being translated into a touching and intriguing story...Somehow the movie failed to do that....It failed to bring alive the sorrow of the family, the helplessness of a family who had to wait for 10 years to seek justice, who had to face what political clout is all about.....while the crew might say they had shown all of these but according to me they failed to make me feel these emotions....Time and again i have felt that somehow Indian Filmmakers fail to touch the emotions when they make movies on emotional subjects....Be it 'Guzaarish' where Sanjay leela bhansali gamlourised tragedy or NOKJ it just failed to do so....

I feel the reasons are few most importantly our team always fail to get the right casting which can do justice to the role....stars are always given priority over actors who can probably add value and bring the roles alive....secondly scriptwriters fail to craft the story focussing on key elements which can make the story more interesting....in NOKJ the most interesting part was the use of political clout in breaking the witnesses.....this whole part coupled with helplessness of a common man's family to deal with the clout was the heart of the story but least importance was given to craft that part of the story instead director chose to focus how 'rani mukherjee' carries out her fimly sting operations, how she continues to give gaali's and gather support for Jessica Lal...it looked like rani was unhappy with her role and hence the writer had to rewrite scenes to make rani happy....

This is where Indian filmmakers fail....

NOKJ could have been a far far better movie with more depth in the story, better casting and better direction.....

Not happy.....

By the way some trailors that intrigued/interested me are 'ye saali zindagi', 'saat khoon maaf', 'dil to baccha hai ji','tunring 30' & 'dhobi ghaat'.....lets see how they turn out.....

  1. I'd like to draw parallel to some English movies that i have loved - which are based on real life incidents. Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts), Civil Action (John Travolta) were I think really really well made movies which captured the sentiment well. On the other hand, World Trade center (Nicholoas Cage) i don't think cd have been made better. There was a lot of emotion there which cd have been captured.... So yes, it depends on the director, the cast, etc.... I wish this one was done better :((
